CVC- and SMC- Solder Tip Cartridges are the standard tip range for use with Metcal CV-5200, CV-500, MX-500, MX-5200, and MX-5200 Series soldering systems. All cartridges are available in four temperature ranges: 600 Series (nominally 330 °C), 700 Series (nominally 390 °C), 800 Series (nominally 440 °C), and 900 Series (nominally 470 °C). Metcal SmartHeat® Technology automatically adjusts power levels during each soldering operation, helping maintain consistent temperature throughout the soldering process. The temperature series is identified by the first digit of the numerical portion of the part number (e.g., 600 Series corresponds to CVC-/SMC-6xx, 700 Series to CVC-/SMC-7xx, 800 Series to CVC-/SMC-8xx, and 900 Series to CVC-/SMC-9xx). CVC- and SMC- Solder Tip Cartridges are compatible with both leaded and lead-free solder. Metcal recommends the 700 Series for most applications, while the 600 Series is suited for light-load or lower-temperature work, and the 800 and 900 Series are designed for high-temperature, thermally demanding applications.
