Container Cleanliness

Three Cleanliness Tiers — Normal, Pre-Cleaned & Certified

Keep it simple: every KTEC bottle comes in one of three cleanliness tiers — normal, pre-cleaned to EPA standards, or pre-cleaned with a Certificate of Analysis. Glass bottles use the “Class” label (the same as our EPA VOA vials); plastic (HDPE) bottles use the equivalent “Level.” Same three tiers either way — pick what your method needs.

Normal

Glass bottle, cap, and liner assembled and QA-checked — not pre-cleaned. Shipped as-supplied in sealed case packaging.

Best for: Non-regulated sampling, or labs that do their own bottle prep.

Class 2

Pre-Cleaned

Pre-cleaned to EPA standards — washed, ASTM Type I water rinse, oven-dried, and assembled in a contaminate-free environment.

Lot-numbered case label

Best for: Routine environmental work where blanks need to come back clean.

Class 3

Pre-Cleaned & Certified

Everything in Class 2, plus a Certificate of Analysis from an independent laboratory verifying container cleanliness.

Container Families

Glass for Organics, HDPE for Wet Chem

The right material is part of the method. Glass for extractables, organics, and metals (where plastics can leach or adsorb analytes). HDPE for inorganics and wet chemistry (where glass interferes with silica, sodium, or pH-sensitive work).

Amber & Clear Glass Bottles

Type III soda-lime glass in Boston Round (narrow-mouth, light-sensitive), Wide Mouth Packer (extractables & metals), and Straight Sided Jar (soil & sediment) formats. PTFE-lined closures across the line.
