CVC- and SMC- Solder Tip Cartridges form the standard tip range for use with Metcal CV-5200, CV-500, MX-500, MX-5200, and MX-5200 series soldering systems. These cartridges are offered in four temperature ranges: 600 Series (nominally 330 °C), 700 Series (nominally 390 °C), 800 Series (nominally 440 °C), and 900 Series (nominally 470 °C). The temperature series is identified by the first digit in the numerical portion of the part number. For example, 600 Series cartridges are labeled CVC-/SMC-6xx, 700 Series as CVC-/SMC-7xx, 800 Series as CVC-/SMC-8xx, and 900 Series as CVC-/SMC-9xx. Metcal recommends the 700 Series for most applications, while the 600 Series is ideal for light-duty or lower-temperature tasks, and the 800 and 900 Series are suited for high-temperature, thermally demanding applications. All series are compatible with both leaded and lead-free solder.
