Master EPA Method 200.8: Trace Metals by ICP-MS

Everything you need for compliant determination of trace elements in waters and wastes by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, from sample prep through final analysis.

Compliance Requirements for Method 200.8

EPA Method 200.8 covers the determination of trace elements in waters and wastes by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). It is the primary method for measuring 21 elements at ultra-trace levels (sub-ppb) under both the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.

Critical Note: Samples must undergo acid digestion with nitric and hydrochloric acid before analysis. The method requires internal standards (typically Scandium, Yttrium, Indium, Terbium, and Bismuth) to correct for matrix effects and instrument drift. Interference equations must be applied to correct for isobaric and polyatomic interferences.

We have curated the products below to support every step of the 200.8 workflow, from digestion vessels and acids to ICP-MS tuning solutions and certified reference materials.
